      <description>Hi All,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have some questions on SIM.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1)SIM is System Insight Manager, am i correct?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2)What is the purpose of SIM?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3)Is both SIM and SMH same?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;4)where SIM has to be installed host or VM?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>You must not install SIM on the host - SIM is not supported on the vmhost system.</description>

      <description>Hi All,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; Now i got some useful information about SIM.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1)It is used to manage all servers (hpux, linux, windows) available in Infrastructer, am i correct?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2)We can install SIM server on HPUX or Linux or Windows, am i correct?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3)We need to install the SIM client on all clients (HP-UX or Linux or Windows) for managing those servers by using SIM, am i correct?</description>

      <description>You are correct, but SIM installed on windows has several features only available there.</description>

      <description>On the client side there are a series of agents and the SMH. These can be installed as part of a proliant Support Pack, available for a variety of OSes.&lt;BR /&gt;There's a degree of configuration, snmp settings and trust relationships, but HP SIM has the ability to replicate a lot of settings, so the amount of work is limited.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The documentation is very good, see &lt;A href="http://www.hp.com/go/hpsim" target="_blank"&gt;www.hp.com/go/hpsim&lt;/A&gt; and follow the link to the reference library. It's worth downloading the technical reference guide.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HPSIM can also identify and process snmp traps from non-server devices, e.g. HP switches and SANs.</description>
