look at your reverse lookup's make sure you have one for each of your switches

also you might need to extend your timeout and retries in the Global Protocol settings.

i had a simaler issue with a remote site and both these did the trick

Hi,

I am using SIM 5.3 and have recently added 4 Fibre switches. Two are at the same site as the CMS and use the same range of IP addresses as the CMS (180.10.n.n). The other two are at a remote site and have an IP address of 10.100.n.n

I am able to happily manage all four switches but those at the remote site are displayed by their IP addresses instaead of their Hostnames.

I have edited the system properties changing the preferred name to the hostname but they are still being displayed by the IP address in SIM.

Any ideas anyone?

Regards

Steve

HP SIM uses DNS to get the names. Try manually making entries into your DNS server for the switches.
