First off, Let me say thank you to the SIM Product team for including as much VMWare info as they have already.

I have System Lists for both VMWare ESX Servers and Windows 2000 VMs hosted on an ESX box working perfectly.

I was wondering if in a future version we might see a way to tie a VM to its Host. Similar to "RIB in SERVERNAME" that we see now.

I understand that this will take some work with VMWare themselves most probably to get it working, but if someone could add it to the SIM Bin list that would be great.

PS: For those who want to know what I did for the System Lists....
System Lists on the left side, Customize

For VMs (you obviously have to add them to discovery, manual works fine)
where [ product name ] [ is ] [ VMWare Virtual Platform ]

For ESX Servers
where [ web agent ] [ is ] [ VMWare Management Interface ]

The HP solutions team is currently working on a best practices document for managing VMware ESX and GSX hosts and their guests. As far as the future, your comments have been forwarded to the product manager.

But will they add support for SIM server running on Linux? Currently the only plug-ins available for the vmware add-on module is for Windows SIM servers.

Thanks!

J.J.
Not sure what you mean.

The VMMP seems to be part of SIM 4.2
Have you upgraded to 4.2 yet?

I just did a 4.1 to 4.2 upgrade and it let me install the VMMP during that process.

If you're running HPSIM itself on a non-windows box some of the plug-ins are not available.
