You must apply a license to the servers you want PMP to monitor. There are 5 free licenses to apply with hpSIM 4.1, and pre-ML and -DL servers (e.g. ProLiant 1600) will automatically be licensed for free.

Click on one of the icons in the PF column and select the Admin link.

I'm having this problem as well. I have licensed several servers, but the "Monitoring Administration" page comes up empty, with no servers in the list. I thought maybe it took a while to populate, but it's been over a week now.

In the "License Administration" area, the servers are coming up with status "Licensed" so it should be working.

I have PMP working on SIM using MS SQL as a database. I have noticed that it defaults to not monitoring, even when licensed and so does not always show on the 'all servers' list.

Also I have noticed that it seems to randomly assign the free licences, in that, I have proliant 1600's with old agents that won't run PMP that it has given a licence to and a 6500, which it claims is an 'Unsupported Server' but that is monitored via PMP on IM7.........

And as for what it does with the 'Deploy-License Manager-* Keys' bits is another question!

Bill,

As Mr. Claypool stated, pre-ML and pre-DL servers get "automatic free licenses" for PMP that are not part of the "5 free licenses" included with PMP.

You should still be able to assign your "five free licenses" to servers of your own choosing.

Not quite clearly documented.

Jacobus,

You won't get PMP data to Manually Delete until you have PMP monitoring working and have elected to "Log" as well as "Monitor" and "Alert" for some monitored servers on the PMP Administration page.

As far as getting monitoring to work:

There have been reports that adding "public" to the Monitored Servers list of acceptable SNMP community names (on the server to be monitored by PMP), has allowed PMP Monitoring and Alerts to start working. Presumably Trap should be sent to the CMS for CN "public" in that case as well, and the CMS must be an allowed server for CN "public". I would restart SNMP after making such changes, and probably restart PMP service on the CMS as well.

This CN of "public" should NOT be necessary.

But it would be interesting to here if it helps in your cases.

If it does help in any of the instances above, it would probably behoove a support call to HP to walk through your CMS configuration in detail. This would indicate to me there is a "snare" in the install/configure process that is too easy for users to fall into.
To clarify I would like to repead again to everyone. PMP does not work because it does not gets server list from SIM. Clicking Update Server List button still does not import list of servers form SIM to PMP and there is only message No records found.

We can not configure, license, purge anything becouse there is no servers on the list.

I am working with a customer who had the same problem. The PMP license administration web page showed 0 licenses available and the server list had no records found. After uninstalling and reinstalling PMP twice the problems were resolved and the 5 licenses were available and the server list was populated.
