Hiya boyz and girlz!!

I've installed HP-SIM ver 6.2 and all the prerequisites, (I think.) When I run /opt/mx/bin/mxinitconfig -l, everything returns happy, which makes me smile. I then run /opt/mx/bin/mxinitconfig -a, and my smile turns upside down. :(

8. Database Configuration
Connecting to database..
ERROR - Connection to the repository server failed.
...........Failed

then more of the same.

Can anyone assist me with resolving this?

Hi Ron,

which Operating system ?

ON HP UX this is caused because of
system is configured as a part of a Serviceguard cluster, and as such has a specific requirement with regards to how hostname resolution is done. The contents of the /etc/nsswitch.conf file along with the value of the kernel parameter maxfiles_lim seem to be causing the problem.

This is an rx7640 running HP-UX 11.31. It is not part of a serviceguard cluster.

How do I proceed?

HI Ron,

lowering maxfiles_lim to 243712 might help
e.g.
# mxinitconfig -r
# kctune maxfiles_lim=243712
# mxinitconfig -a
# kctune maxfiles_lim=
