If you have access to a server running SQL 2000 you can use Enterprise Manager to connect to the MSDE instance and then go to server properties-->memory to configure the maximum allocated memory.

Hi
I have a new installation of HP SIM 4.1 which is running extremely slowly. When I look at the useage stats the MSDE instance is using all the memory (1.2GB) and the machine is constantly paging.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how was it resolved ?

Many thanks

Paul

In general, the rule of thumb for MSDE installations is 500 devices and 5,000 events. If I let my events creep up over 5,000, I find that my MSDE slows to a crawl. If this is your situation, try archiving or deleting the older events. BTW, the rule of thumb for SQL Server is 5,000 devices and 50,000 events.
