I think all I've ever done is to stop / start the management network. This should generate a wbem alert saying the wbem sub-agents have been restarted.
I'm not aware of any way of triggering a wbem alert - but it would be very useful.

Hi again.
From where do you stop/start mgmt network?
Is it from Vcenter?
If the ESXi host is in a cluster this make a failover/vmotion of all vm:s doesn´t it??

/Micke Ch

Restart the management network on the ESXi server - it is one of the options from the yellow console UI. It doesn't affect the guests at all.

As the above poster has said, get to the console, F2, login and it's one of the options there.
It doesn't affect the operation of the guests.
vCentre may lose it for a bit, so you may want to check no vMotions are happening when you do it.
