hi!

thank´s a lot for the tip with the configuratino task! but i am still missing some settings.

when you open control panel/hp management agents and go to the snmp settings tab you can enable the snmp sets and you can enable the application exception trap. there is no way to enable the applicatino exception trap via the configuration task.

brgds Andre

snmp sets are enabled, remote reboot is not enabled.

has this something to do with the accepted community names and the rights associated with them? we have at the moment a read only community there.

brgds Andreas

Yes, there needs to be a read/write community. HP SIM does not need to use read/write, so best practice is to set a read string that HP SIM uses to gather data and set a read/write string that never traverses the wire. That way no one can sniff the network to find out a write community string.

Yes. Use the ProLiant Support Pack which installs all the appropriate drivers and allows you to configure the passwords and certificate trust relationship. Additionally, if you use SmartStart to set up your server, it will automatically load the agents and drivers, and will prompt your for the password.

hello!

no - i am not talking about manual installation via smartstart. but i managed to do it.

in the versino control manager it is possible to configure the foundation agents. there it is possible to configure at least the snmp sets. what i am missing are the rest of the settings you can set there. i hope this will be possible in a future release.

brgds Andreas

I'm not sure what you're missing.
From the VCRM you can configure SNMP Sets, Administrator password, Trust mode and add the Certificate to use.

The things you cannot pre-set from the Agents are the SNMP Community and Trap destination settings.

[continuing for Rob]...and once the trust relationship is set it's easy to apply those other parameters with a configuration task.

I get this similar with a proliant 5000 that was upgraded from NT to 2000. Web based IML is unable to clear the errors that occurred. Also the HP integrated log viewer is unable to locate the iml log. Is there any way to manually clear these messages via file delete/edit or registry edit?
