I'd really like this functionality too. Ofcourse we would like to be able to call the pause function from the Command Line/Shell!
How do I put a server in maintenance mode in SIM 4.1 so that I don't receive alerts during certain hours?

Short of altering the alert schedule or excluding the Server from the Event Notification there isn't an easy way.

I use the Custom Command Option to provide a more flexible way of managing event notification.

I have a perl script which reads a list of excluded Servers prior to sending particular alerts. That's just a quickly editable text file. Again though it tends to just completely ignore it rather than put a schedule on it although that could be dealt with by perl as well.

As Rob says, you could exclude that server from the list that defines the systems to be queried, but that's a little bit of a hassle. We have kicked around the idea of a "pause button" for this purpose, and it's on the wish list for a future version. We'll have to wait and see if it makes it in.
