A few things and it can depend on HPSIM versions and whether you're using SNMP or WBEM.

The agents on the server where the PS is removed should detect the error and then send an SNMP Trap to HPSIM. Check SNMP community names and Trap destinations.

An Event for the server should be generated in HPSIM.

And then there's the HW polling task which is what will finally update the HW icon / status.

Hi All

I recently started someone which had a broken HP SIM install, the database had grown to big for SQL Express so i moved it to a SQL server following HP doco and have restored service again but the system does not detect new errors / issues with hardware, where should i look to fix this?

I have confirmed that other aspects are working, like discovery, as ive added new hosts in ok, and also enabled the AD authentication integration, but if i go and pull a power supply lead from a monitored system the ilo on the server shows the loss but in HP SIM it shows the system as fine.

What could be the issue here?

thanks rob, the SNMP settings you mention are they in the ilo settings?

The actual servers themselves are ESX so dont have anything in the OS to configure from what i can see.

There are agents for ESX just like for windows.
To get them, just go to the main HP Page, Software & Drivers, enter a suitable HP Server model and look under the requierd ESX variant.

As part of the install you configure SNMP and it should open the required firewall holes etc.

If you search the forum for ESX and SNMP you should find examples as the issue has come up before.

ESXi is quite different it uses WBEM, again search here or the VMware section and you'll find similar posts.
