What is the latest and greatest version of SIM? We are currently at 4.0 w/o a service pack. It's time to upgrade, but we want the newest version. Recommendations?

The latest version is SIM 4.1 SP1 but it does not support upgrades from SIM 4.0. SIM 4.2 will be released before the end of the year and it will support upgrades from SIM 4.0.

What does Version 7 relate to, the predecessor to SIM?

Yes IM7 (Insight Manager) is the predecessor and was replaced by HP SIM 4 which now runs on Windows, Linux and HP-UX whereas IM7 was a Windows only application . SIM is a combination of IM7 and Servicecontrol Manager 3 which was an HP-UX centric product.
