I want HP SIM to access a remote SQL server. Durning the installation of System Insight Manager, it prompts me for credentials to the database server, but I can only enter password for the account currently logged in and I cannot change the doamin. Nevertheless, it doesn't appear that I can use SQL authentication. Is there a way a round this?

SIM requires Windows NT authentication for all database access it does not support SQL server authentication.

Thanks much. Can I setup SIM to access SQL with Windows domain account, but use a seprate account to log in to the HP SIM Web interface, view reports, scheduled jobs and so forth?

Yes you can setup SIM to use a Windows domain account to access SQL and then create any number of separate accounts used to login to SIM. These accounts must first be present in Windows since SIM authenticates all logins against the windows directory however they do not need any special windows privileges. In SIM you go to Options --> Security --> Users and Authorizations to configure the SIM users.

Excellent, It should still be possible then to login locally to the workstation where HP SIM is installed and launch SIM using a local account rather than a domain account, as long as HP SIM was given the domain cerdential to access the SQL server?
