SIM 4.1 was working fine last week until disk space ran short. After space cleanup it would not detect the Java plugin even after doing all the recommended things. SIM 4.2 has the same problem. Is there a workaround or should I uninstall everything and start from scratch?
Richard Ward, DNR ISS

Have you tried clearing the plugin cache? You can do that by opening the JAVA plugin control panel applet.

JP

I had tried that but it did not work. I just finished reinstalling SIM 4.2 from scratch and was able to login. Running auto discovery right now. Still having a problem with Management HomePage getting logged in as administrator on some servers, even after updating to the latest agents and copying over the cpqhmmd.acl file from a server which I can log into.

What Browser?
In IE, check in the Advanced Settings there's not a check in the:
java (Sun)
Use Java 2 v1.4.xxxx
for a version of Java that is not installed. You can just uncheck this box.

Also, do you get the same problem browsing from any workstation?

The only way I could get it to work was to uninstall 4.2 and reinstall it. And of course create a new database. Working ok so far.
