I see that I can now change the password for the 7.1 agent and that is fine. My issue now is what to change it to. I do not know what the password should be. I would much rather change this password on the console than on the 80 servers, but I will do it to correct the problem. So, how do I find out what the password is on the SIM server side so that I can modify it on the managed system side?

PS - Thanks for your time!

I had 4.1 on a server monitoring 80 machines. All was well. Then I built a new server, a better server with the new 4.2 SIM. I wanted to start from scratch. I discovered a few servers, but there is a problem. When I try to go to a managed server's home page, via the SIM console, I am continually prompted for a password. I type in the password that was originally chosen for the agent and then I can go on. In 4.1, I was able to select a managed server, from the SIM console (home page), choose the Links tab and then click the System Management homepage and go right in. Why in 4.2 am I not? I assume that the password stored somewhere in the new 4.2 console does not match the password that was already on the agents of my 80 servers. How do I fix this?

I did follow the instructions on creating a new accont on the SIM server for the VCAgent and I have that working on my few test managed servers. But, from the SIM console, I have the blue i under SW for the test servers. It says I have a trust issue yet when I go to the managed server's home page, enter the known password, the VC agent shows as being configured just fine?!?!

I am at a loss. I have been through the forum and have tried MANY things.

Please help and thanks in advance.

It may be a certificate issue. Meaning all your previous servers "Trusted" your old server. Not that you have a new server, there might not be a "Trust" (i.e. Certificate Trust). I personally have my servers setting at "Trust All". This MAY be the problem your having.

Thanks for the reply. I have all of my servers to "Trust by Name", and the name remained the same on the new server. There has to be a way to change the "password" on the SIM server for when it attached to a managed server...I just do not know how.

I recommend using "Configure or Repair Agents" which is a new 4.2 feature. It will prompt for valid Windows credentials for those servers and go out and fix your access problems.

I just noticed something...After I click the managed server's name, from the SIM Homepage, I get the managed server's homepage asking for a password. The Login Account: is showing as anonymous. I thought that this was always Administrator if you are getting there via the SIM console. Anyway, if I type in the administrator's password, I go through fine.
