did you run MSSQL oder using the MSDBE ?

try to update to 4.2, it has many fixes, and the upgrade of my 4.0 ( 170 Server + switches + ++) went very smooth within a few minutes.

OK, I'm running SIM Ver. 4.0 on W2K3 and was extremely happy to get ssh working on the CMS in under two days. Began writing a few custom commands and testing on 2 or 3 servers here and there and all was working great!

Next, I wanted to run my command against all servers in a list (approx. 40) but each time it stops after only processing 9 servers!

It doesn't matter which list I use or if I make sure the ninth server is varied it stops after only nine.

What's up with that?

BTW, my simple test script just echos the devices with their associated first IP address (BUT ONLY 9 devices!!!)

Thanks to any who can shed some light on this issue.

Well, after looking at my app. log I see that after nine sftp sessions I'm getting an error from sshd stating: no more sessions.

I'm currently looking into the sshd_config settings (tried modifying Max_Startups parameter but no luck).

My planned usage of custom apps. (at least initially) was to run a single script on the CMS server and have that single script reach out and do whatever with the list of servers provided from the SIM server. If this is a limitation of ssh then I'm screwed! I did NOT want to have to install ssh on all managed servers!

Help!

In digging around in the ssh world I've found that there might be a parameter to use in the ssh_config file (the client file) but SIM seems to be ignoring this file!

Oh, well. I'm about ready to uninstall 4.0 and move to 4.1 so I'll cross my fingers and see what happens.

We're using MSDE.

What kind of started this whole thing is that we tried to install 4.2 but we kept getting the "unable to connect to the specified database server". Tried a few things suggested in this forum but to no avail.

So, now I'm in the same boat. I uninstalled the VCR and SIM components. Dropped the SIM db in MSDE but now it's 4.1 AND 4.2 that fail at the same location. I've tried removing MSDE, jre and Java components, I even removed MS04-025 (the patch that broke SIM last year). I'm hoping to get a call into HP today...but this is crazy.

Was able to resolve install problem so now I can focus back on getting ssh running under 4.1 and then go from there.

See http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=827306 for resolution description.

MJ
