Hi,

I apologize for being lazy, but does anyone off the top of thier head know the port(s) needed for a managed device to communicate with the Version Control Repository running on a HP SIM4.2 server? I have a few DMZ boxes that currently cannot connect due to firewall issues.

Thanks
Nelson

Oops - I think I already had those ports working.

What I need is the Version Control AGENT on the managed device to be able to communicate with the VCRM on the SIM 4.2 server.

I can connect to the web interface for it (using the ports you mentioned) but when I get there the agent reports that it cannot obtain information from the VCRM. So there must be another port is uses to communicate.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Nelson

Is it just some systems? What is the specific error you see when trying to configure the VCAs?

This might be related:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=803661

Hi Keith,

Just two systems and both are behind a firewall. The error I get is:

Status cannot be calculated because a Version Control Repository Manager has not been named. Click on change agent settings to specify a Version Control Repository Manager.

When I go to configure the connection to the VCRM, it hangs for a while and then just tells me "The Version Control Repository Manager, at VCRMServer, could not be accessed using the specified account and password". This is the same account I use for 100 other servers, so it should normally work.

Also, I get "question marks" in the SW column for those servers in SIM Console.

I will check out the link you provided.

Thanks
Nelson

The solution is to allow traffic across the firewall in BOTH directions. So I had our firewall folks allow 2381 both to and from the SIM server hosting the VCRM.
