I am upgrading HP Insight Manager 7SP2 to HP SIM 4.1.

The installation process performs the Pre-Installation OK, however the Installation has a status of NOT RUN, the only option I have is to finish the installation. I re-started the install, rebooted and re-started the install and the symptoms remain.

I have even tried this on a brand new server with the same results.

Upon closer inspection a window appears for a fraction of a second and then bombs out leaving the HP Systems Insight Manager Setup status screen. I attach a screenshot.

Can anyone help?

Hi
I solved the same problem by expanding the whole Zip file (which I downloaded) to a temp folder, then go to the subfolder "C:\temp\hpsim\win_ia32\msde" run the msde setup with the following parameter C:\temp\hpsim\win_ia32\msde\setup.exe SAPWD="mysecretpassword" after that I started the database with the following command "net start mssqlserver". Later I run the hpsim.exe under the following path "C:\temp\hpsim\win_ia32\hpsim". That fixed the problem
L. Sudar

Thanks very much for your response.

I ended up unzipping the archive and running each of the processes individually.

The result was HP SIM 4.1 with everything migrated.

Thanks again

I thought you were supposed to get a screen informing you that you needed to upgrade to SP3 first and then restart the inplace upgrade.

Note: I think Frank means SP2.3. There has not been (and none is expected) an Insight Manager 7 Service Pack 3.
