I have read a number of threads regarding updating the VCRM. None of them seem to address this particular error message I received while trying to update the catalog. It should be noted that I have never been able to successfully update the VCRM catalog. I'm using HPSIM 4.2 SP1, here is the error message:

VCRM log entry: https://MyServerName:2381/vcrepository/log?entryId=VCRM1114006576
Error for file: C:\Repository\catalog.xml
Error code: 2147500037
The following tags were not closed: meta.

Can anybody suggest a work around or fix to this problem? I'd really like to be able to automatically download items into the VCRM.

Thanks Everybody!!!

Jason,

I had a similar issue with HPSIM 4.0. I assume that you are using the latest VCRM.

I created a parallel directory structure: c:\VCRM and manually copied the PSP's from the CD. Then you modify your Version Control repository manager settings or remove and reinstall.

You should then "Scan Catalog" for the new files and then turn on automatic updates etc. Copy just the PSP Files from the old repository (the exe files only not the index files)

You XML file sounds like it is shagged and starting again will ensure a proper copy.

Hope this helps.

I renamed the catalog.xml file and rescan/rebuilt the catalog, with no success. I received the same error message:

The automatic repository update failed because an error occurred while processing the download site catalog.

Additional Data
Error for file: C:\Repository\catalog.xml
Error code: 2147500037
The following tags were not closed: meta.

I just downloaded and installed the updated VCRM (it was released 4-21). My hopes of being able to update the catalog quickly diminished after my first attempt failed. The errors are slightly different (two errors are logged now instead of one), but basically the same:

1st error in log:
Error for file: C:\hp\hpsmh\data\webapp-data\vcrepository\catalogindex.xml
Error code: 2147500037
The following tags were not closed: meta.
Error for file: C:\hp\hpsmh\data\webapp-data\vcrepository\catalog.xml
Error code: 2147500037
The following tags were not closed: meta

2nd error in log:
Error for file: C:\hp\hpsmh\data\webapp-data\vcrepository\catalog.xml
Error code: 2147500037
The following tags were not closed: meta.
