The Server Migration Pack performs appropriate driver injection to the migrated virtual machineâ s primary drive (drive 0) to adopt to the new virtual environment, namely Hardware Abstraction layer, NT kernel and mass storage drivers. The driver injection may fail sometimes for the following reasons:

Verify that the operating system is on the first boot order. If this is not the case, manually change the boot order by editing the [system drive]\boot.ini file or by using the bootcfg.exe tool.

The Server Migration Pack uses Microsoft Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) initiator 1.06 software for primary mass storage driver injection. The Server Migration Pack requires that this software be installed and iSCSI service is running on the CMS. To download and install the Microsoft iSCSI initiator software, refer to http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=663997

Dynamic disks with simple (non-extended) volumes are supported. Dynamic disks with spanned, striped, mirrored, raid-5 or extended simple volumes are not supported on the physical machine.

Ensure that all partitions have a valid file system and are in a healthy state. Migration of unformatted or unhealthy partitions is not supported.
