Hewlett-Packard survey service encountered a problem and need to close

We have Windows server 2003 clusters with sp1. After upgraded supportpack to ver 7.40A. We recive the following error when logging in to console:"Hewlett-Packard survey service encountered a problem and need to close".

The new version of HP Insight Diagnostics does not run as a Windows service.
Therefore, I think you just see error message related to old Survey version in Services. You can disable/delete HP Insight Diagnostics Service.

I looked at services and i do not have any "HP Insight Diagnostics Service" so i do not think that is the problem. I think that was a problem when upgrading to psp 7.20.

It is strange. I just see in your attached file "surveyor.exe" and "HP surveyor service" .......
On our servers with PSP 7.40 we don't have surveyor.exe file at all, so I think maybe you have some problem with uninstall HP survey during PSP 7.40 installation.

I checked a server that i installed today and that server do not have surveyor.exe. But on the server where i have problem has surveyor.exe and it is located in the directory: c:\compaq\survey.exe
The services i have on the server i have problem with is in the attached file.

But if i look in add/remove programs on the problem machine i have a "Hewlett-Packard survey-utility". But on the fresh new installed server i don not have that. Do you think i could remove that or will the whole agent stop working?

Surveyor.exe related to service with name "Surveyor" (from your attached file I cannot see services started with "S"). IMHO, you can delete (or at least disable) this service - on server with PSP 7.40 this service is unnecessary, HP insight diagnostics replace it. When you delete/disable this service - your error message will go away (I hope).

Yes, I think you can uninstall
"Hewlett-Packard survey-utility" (it will also uninstall surveyor service).

Aha.. i thinked the HP guys have called the service HP surveyor. You where right there is an servcie that is just call surveyor. Thanks for your help!

I uninstalled it in add/remove program, Now i think it works fine!

The upgrade process to psp7.40 does not seem to work so good.
