Hello,

we have received a not documented Tape Library SNMP Trap with following information:
trap_enterprise              =1.3.6.1.4.1.232
trap_specific                =3046
trap_type                    =6
sysName.0                    =S000A0026
cpqHoTrapFlags               =16
cpqDaCntlrHwLocation.0       =Slot 0
cpqDaPhyDrvCntlrIndex.0.145  =0
cpqDaPhyDrvIndex.0.145       =145
cpqDaPhyDrvStatus..0.145     =SCSI Port 2 Drive 1
cpqDaPhyDrvStatus..0.145     =2
cpqDaPhyDrvModel.0.145       =COMPAQ  BF01885A34
cpqDaPhyDrvFWRev.0.145       =HPB4
cpqDaPhyDrvSerialNum.0.145   =3JY0LK42000074017PTW
cpqDaPhyDrvFailureCode.0.145 =7
cpqDaPhyDrvStatus.0.145      =3
cpqDaPhyDrvBusNumber.0.145   =

I have found an entry for specific trap ID 3045 in Mib File CPQIDA-MIB.txt, which means:
"Tape Drive Cleaning Tape Needs Replacing."

Does someone has an idea what this trap with specific trap ID 3046 means?
That device type looks like an 18GB Disk. So I don't think it's a tape library alert.
You should be able to identify the host that sent it and check on the drives.

I am responsibale for the monitoring. I need documentation about the meaning of this trap to provide a proper error message if it re-occurs.
Where can I get the newest MIB-Files?
How are they versioned?

Well the MIBs as loaded into HPSIM are located in:
C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\mibs
You can also find a MIB Update kit for HPSIM under:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locOsCat/69.html#327

Looking at the MIB I have loaded this is a physical device status change - so you may not have the latest MIB loaded.
How you do this depends on the version of HPSIM you have installed. As the MIB Updates are not cumulative, in other words you need to get hold of the preceding MIB Update kits as well.
If you're running HPSIM 5.1 SP1, you should just need the 7.70 MIB Update kit.

Hello,
we forward the traps to Tivoli TEC for further processing.
As far as I understand, the MIB versions correspond to the hardware and not to the HPSIM version. Nevertheless there are upgrade packages for the HPSIM servers.
Furthermore we need to upgrade the HPSIM <-> Tivoli TEC integration. Where can we downloud upgrades for the TEC integration.
Would those integration pack upgrades be in sync with MIB upgrades?

Regards,
Hans-Georg
