Confirmed, the (jtds) driver was updated in SIM 5.2 due to supporting SQL 2005 and other things. Turns out that new driver has the same 'old' problem; and we determined why we didn't catch it in test. You have to do a gpupdate or reboot the server in order for the ntlmv2 setting to 'take effect' and then it fails every time.

Currently investigating options, but it looks like SIM is going to have to update to a new version of the driver which was recently posted (opensource) that fixes the ntlmv2 issue. Stay tuned....

unfortunately (or to be expected) SIM 5.2 has a (for us) great bug: if the LAN-Manager Authentication Level of the Windows 2003 Domain is set to "Network security: LAN Manager authentication level - Send NTLMv2 response only/refuse LM & NTLM", the installation fails when trying to use a separate SQL-Server: "The specified database account credentials are not valid". The installation continues when using the Authentication Level "LM&NTLM". With the setting "NTMLv2 only, reject LM & NTLM" the installation of SIM 5.1 works.

The behaviour was the same with SIM 5.0 SP2 and was an confirmed bug:
http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-helpfiles/readme_5.txt

Please don't bother me with the advice to disable NTLMv2 because of HP SIM.... but tell me how to install 5.2 with NTLMv2 activated.
