Hi All,

i'm having a lots of troubles with Rack View after updating to HP-SIM 5.2. Servers are missing, Power Enclosures arn't displayed correctlly, Blade Enclosures only have 4 or 5 Slots and so on. See attached Gif.

After performing an Identification Task on the Servers in the Racks everything is fine, but some hours later information is missing again. Also an intresting point is that after the Identification Task always a new Rack will be found with the same Rackname+Serialnumber of one of the power enclosures.

Is this behaviour familiar to somebody?

Hey Eggger,
Please let me know the HP SIM and HP Blade Systems Insight Manager versions [both of which you can come to know by clicking about menu] that you were using before upgrade to SIM 5.2.
Also if possible model names of the pClass servers/switches inside your rack which you discovered before upgrade.
Thanks
Deepak

Hi Edder,

The power Enclosure not displaying correctly may be because of ILO firmware version. please check you have latest iLO firmware installed in ur blades.

For rack name problem: Did you use Edit rack feature in SIM?
So if u have used Edit rack feature and saved rack without rack name change then next time when u discover systems again it will create same rack again as rack is already exist (and because u used Edit rack feature so rack is now user created) so it creates different rack name and that is rack+serialnumber.

Solution: Go to rack view and delete ur user defined rack
or change it name anything (u can delete it any time later it wont harm anything as its user defined)so when it will discover again wont create different name.

hope will help to understand concept of user defined rack.

For power enclosure information to come up correctly there must be atleast one iLO in the enclosure that is daisy chained to the power enclosure with firmware version 1.80 or it must be iLO2. Just hover over the power units in the power enclosure and you will know the iLO version to use.

"Blade Enclosures only have 4 or 5 Slots and so on. See attached Gif" ::
The answer to this is that "picture view is rendered now using a corrupted iLO , this iLO is giving incorrect slot information for blades and hence those are not properly displayed in the bpv. My solution would be to delete and re-discover the blades or to re-identify all the MPs in the enclosure.

Thanks for your Hints but i have tried all of these allready. Yes, you are right. The racks with same name came from editing the racks because the order was completly wrong. But i deleted the wrong racks and they still apear after identifing systems.
Ilo Firmware is 1.91 on all Ilo's.

wrong rack is not the rack with serial number its the rack which dont have serial number.
delete that and delete newer too. now discove fresh that will solve ur problem.

For iLO version 1.91 seems to be fine. see all ilo health status is ok for u? all servers are associating fine with iLO?

Hey! in attached picture i can see status is unknown of one power enclosure. ? sign indicates that u have wrong version of iLO or u have not discovered the iLO in that enclosure.

as ur version is 1.91 so firmware is not issue. did u discover ur all iLOs and they are associating with servers?

this issue was fixed in SIM 5.2 so if u upgraded properly it should be fixed if all above conditions are fine.

Hi Egger,

ur Attached pic shows unknown (? icon) on powere Enclosure. When u mouse over it it will say reason(either iLO version not compatible or Ilo not discovered).

You said you have 20pG4 servers also? It has iLO2 (means firmware version will be 1.3x not 1.9x)
just try this once:
Discover only one iLO in that rack(which has power enclosure). and see rack view.

as power enclosure details comes from iLO i am still thinking something is in iLO only.
There is no server comes in picture in case of power enclosure (its iLO only).
