I had this problem for a few hours, heh. It seems the extra security in Windows 2003 on the SQL server was holding me back.

Check the SQL Server Data folder (the default location where SQL creates new databases) and give the full security rights NTFS permissions to the user that you are installing SIM. This should fix your problem.

My folder was: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data

I have a DL360G1 with 2gb of RAM and a 9gb partition for SQL and the dbs. It's running Windows 2003 Server and SQL 2000 SP3a. SIM runs through the default install and installs everything but SIM itself because of the error of "SIM was unable to create the database." There is nothing in the event logs that indicate a problem and the error doesn't elaborate. Has anyone encountered this?

Yes, I know I'm a little light on the system requirements. I'll probably replace this box with a DL580 with more disk when I get a chance. I mainly wanted to test SIM before I go and replace my CIM7 rig.

Thanks,

Jeff
