      <title>Blade servers Association Problem</title>

      <description>I've just installed SIM 5.2 and manually discovered  Blade enclosure using Onboard Administrator IP address.&lt;BR /&gt;I've got correct full list of blade servers with empty  System Address. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Why when I add server's OS (WIN2003 R2 SP2) IP address SIM add one more tome discovered servers  (with other names) without  association with Blade Enclosure?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If I discover servers by OS ip address first, they have not &lt;BR /&gt;association with Blade Enclosure either.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What is the best practice to put Blade system under SIM?&lt;BR /&gt;Where could be my problem?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-----------------------------------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;Systems Insight Manager 5.2 with SP1 - Windows &lt;BR /&gt;HP BladeSystem Integrated Manager 3.2.1&lt;BR /&gt;HP Insight Control Management 2.30&lt;BR /&gt;HP Insight Power Manager 1.40&lt;BR /&gt;HP Performance Management Pack 4.7&lt;BR /&gt;HP Virtual Machine Management Pack 3.5&lt;BR /&gt;Insight Control Environment Advisor 2.30&lt;BR /&gt;ProLiant Essentials Vulnerability and Patch Management Pack 2.2.2&lt;BR /&gt;Rapid Deployment Pack 3.80&lt;BR /&gt;---------------------------------------------------</description>

      <description>You discover OA first or server first it should  get associated with the blade enclosure.&lt;BR /&gt;However you have to discover OA to get enclosure. Because OA has the information about the server enclosure.&lt;BR /&gt;Now after you discover the server make sure &lt;BR /&gt;Make sure&lt;BR /&gt;1) SNMP service is running on the HP SIM server. and make sure the CMS server setting "Accept SNMP packets from all hosts" is enabled.&lt;BR /&gt;2) SNMP community string is public&lt;BR /&gt;3) Blade Servers have latest PSP versions&lt;BR /&gt;4) Make sure blade server have Product ID set on the BIOS [Setting Product ID and Serial number is present in attached docs]&lt;BR /&gt;5) Check if the OID "1.3.6.1.4.1.232.2.2.2.6.0" is giving the Product ID.&lt;BR /&gt;6) In case the server is discovered via WBEM then make sure Wbem service is running on the server and make sure you enter the WBEM crends in SIM server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In case you are not aware how to set UUID on the server , refer to attach doc&lt;BR /&gt;Hope this helps.&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks&lt;BR /&gt;Deepak</description>

      <description>&lt;BR /&gt;I've figured out the root of problem. xml reply from ilo has correct host  UUID information.  However  UUIDs discovered servers in SIM has a form&lt;BR /&gt;[ProductID + Serial Number + Serial Number]&lt;BR /&gt;but not&lt;BR /&gt;[ProductID + Serial Number]  like in XML reply.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When i add OS ip address the systems are doubled since they &lt;BR /&gt;have two different UUIDs  described above. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;How it could be fixed?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>I dont think its a firware issue. Please refer the doc on how to set the UUID for the server so that the UUID returned from OA XML &lt;UUID&gt; tag match with the ones that are obtained via SIM when the server is discovered via IP address. Just make sure you set the UUID on the server similar to the one mentioned in OA XML [http://OA_IP/xmldata?item=all]&lt;/UUID&gt;</description>

      <description>Dont fire iLO XML query for cClass blades.&lt;BR /&gt;Fire OA XML query and based on slot number in OA XML get the xml for the blade and then see what is the UUID of the server.&lt;BR /&gt;Assuming UUID is 459483CZJ814060T&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now set the following as the UUID on the server 459483CZJ814060T&lt;BR /&gt;a)UUID = Serial Number + Product ID. &lt;BR /&gt;b)To set serial number and product id you need to go to BIOS setup -&amp;gt; Advance Options and set them. This can be done directly or via Remote console into the server via iLO.&lt;BR /&gt;c)In case either serial number or product id is not set, UUID will not be set on the server and as a result MP XML reply will not have the UUID.&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks&lt;BR /&gt;Deepak</description>

      <description>It was some misunderstandings in xml reply. You are right OA xml return wrong system UUID&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;UUID&gt;459483CZJ814060TCZJ814060T      &lt;/UUID&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;However system serial number settings in the BIOS is correct.  The only strangest is the extra spaces. The newesy version does not mean always good thing.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Downgrade Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - HP ProLiant BL460c (I15) Servers from version 2008.04.01 to&lt;BR /&gt;2008.01.24 solve the problem.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I suppose it was the fools day joke from HP. It is not good joke.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
