Building a backup SIM Server

Hi All,

I am planning to build a backup SIM Server.Hence, what would be the easiest way to syncronize the settings and computers between the production server and the Backup Server?

Would backing up the current SIM Server database and restoring it to the backup Server help?

Since, we have around 700 Servers in the current SIM Setup it would be difficult to manually configure the backup server.

Please suggest.

several possibilities are available to you :

a/build up a mscs clsuter for you HP SIMNo synchro issue for nodes are sharing db. There are some limitations to this solution, RSP is not supported for instance in a cluster.

b/create a second hpsim and script a failover

I think you have all the info now :

1/create the backup sim server
2/restore db of the 1st SIm on it
3/read the automation pdf and automate the fail over between the two.

managed devices will need to talk to both HP SIM, use the replicate agent settings to update the new snmp trap destinations.
