topic Best way moving SIM DB local SQL2K to remote SQL05? in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

Want to move it off and into remote 64-bit SQL05 from it's current local SQL2K home.

Also keeping the SIM console installed where it is, which was all on same host, and just point to the remote DB when moved/converted.

Hoping to find easiest and most pain free way.

Thanks,
Sean
Have a look at these two docs
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/c-products/servers/management/hpsim/HowToSQL2005-sp2-MoveHPSIM53.pdf
http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-helpfiles/hpsim-backingupWindows-52.pdf

The biggest question is - are you just looking at just the SIM database or do you have other associated SIM databases like VMM or VCEM as you need to backup and restore those as well.

Thanks. I forgot to close this over the weekend.
I ended up just detaching the database from the old SQL server, copied it over, the atteched to new one.
Repointed the SIM app to the new one and came right back up and then applies SIM 5.3 SP1.
