It sounds like you cloned the servers from an image that had the agents preinstalled. This creates a problem with duplicate agent GUIDs. The solution is to Delete and recreate a Unique GUID for the Insight Agent Host in the registry. In order to do this follow the instructions below:

1. Stop the Foundation Agents Service

2. Start/Run/Regedit

3. Goto HKEY_Local_Machine

4. Select the Software\Compaq Insight Agent folder and locate the hostGUID

5. Select and delete the value hostGUID

6. Restart the Foundations Agents Service.

When the Foundation Agents restart a unique Host GUID is created.

You should then be able to delete and rediscover the servers.

We have a handful of Proliant 3000's still in service with version 5.5 of the agents installed. These servers were all created from a Windows 2000 sysprep image. The problem is that CIM7 and SIM 4.1 can only register and monitor one of these servers at a time. If another is manually added it will force the existing server out of known servers and show up with all the IP's of the other 3000's based on this image listed in the device information address field. Uninstalling / reinstalling the agents or newer versions does not help, nor does updating to any newer version of the agents. This problem did not exist in the older Compaq Insight Manager 5.5 application. It would be great to find where the registry / file setting is held so we can modify it and monitor the 3000's while they are still in service. Thanks in advance for assistance.
