Thanks to all, as mentioned above the issue was resolved by adding the dns names after the initial discovery.

I've added OA on our c7000 enclsoure to SIM and for some reason it is using the serial number as the System Name for the blades instead of the server names. SIM integration is enabled and the SIM server certificate has been added to OA. Any ideas?

I think, when you have the "Discover systems in an enclosure when Onboard Administrator is discovered" option enabled in options -> discovery -> general settings, HPSIM will discover all the blades in an enclosure by serial number on identification of the OA.

When you re-discover them by their ip address, the names should adapt to either the ip address or dns name (if reverse dns lookups are ok, dns name should be displayed)
I believe If there is no OS on the Blades then they show up by Serial number.

Thanks for your replies. There is an OS on the blades. I just ran the discovery wizard again and put in the dns names - the existing records with the serial numbers now show the dns names.
