HP SIM 6.3 first install failed to database population

I do a fresh install of a HP SIM 6.3 on windows 2008 hyperV with a guest virtual machine windows 2003 R2 sp2.

The installation failed on step 14: database population. See log file in attachement.

I try with different login stay the same problem.

Help...

what's in the logs?

Details can be found in the log files at:
C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\logs

Can you please attach the log mxdomainmgr.0.log from this directory? Are there entries in SQL error log?

Hi Erick,

your first log shows that the SIM service failed to start. Is there an entry in the windows eventlog showing a problem?
My first guess would be wrong credentials or missing the access right to start a service.

Yes, the message say "cannot start hp sim service" but the service is already start on windows.

In application event,
- i have a event 2: "restarting the mxdomainmanager"
- follow of a event 3:
"restart succesfully"
- every one or two minutes.

Hi Erick,

I've had this problem twice (it was with 6.0 and 6.2) on two different servers.
Each time it was an installation on an old under-dimensioned server.
The logs were exactly the same.
I know it won't help you but in the two cases I gave up the installation and asked for a better server (newer + more memory)

Follow the idea of pmlb, i'll try to make the same install on a guest VM with windows 2008 R2 and it'll working with no error.

So my problem is solved.
