I have about 90 servers being monitored by SIM, and for the most part everything is working fine. I have a few however that refuse to associate the server and the corresponding rilo (which is being monitored as a management processor).

For instance I have a server app04, and a rilo rapp04, which is physically contained in the server. SIM wont associate the two however. Is there a way to force it to understand that the two are related to each other?

Also, is there a way to force an association between a rilo and a server that isnt running the management agent? I imagine it would be the same answer.

I have a few servers that I would like to associate the rilo with its server, but the server for security reasons doesnt have the management agent on it.

hi,
SIM find´s normaly the server itself. you have to put the ilo´s yourself to the SIM. after this you go to OPTIONS > DISCOVERY > IDENTIFY SYSTEMS. after this step the server and thr ilos are normaly related to each other. if not you can go to the ilo and put the SIM server to the SNMP-settings of the ilo. and at the point: Level of Data Returned go to high level. if there is almost a problem, check in the control panel the point managemnet agents, that the remote insight informations are on the active site.

hope it helps!
best regards christ

Question for Christian, I have been able to add the MP device, but it is not associating itself with the server. Where do you change SNMP settings for RILOE?

I've tried that and had no luck.. In the all systems list, the rilos are listed as management processors, so SIM understands what they are. It just doesnt seem to understand that they are inside one of the servers which it is also monitoring.

I can go in and manually hack the database and force an association, but at some point (I think its the daily data gathering) it undoes my forced association and I'm back where I started.
