EVENTS not being received

I am having problems receiving events for any of our servers. When I run manage communications I get the following message which says to me that HP Sim should receive events. I ran a test WBEM event but it did not appear as a event. It does appear in the servers event log though. Can anyone let me know why events are not registering within hpsim?

Hi,

From my experience - running a WBEM test event will only appear in the local server event log - not on the CMS.

Do your managed systems use SNMP? - are they HP machines? - if yes then you can set up the SNMP community strings, the destination (CMS) and the string security and then send a test trap from the SMH on the managed system(s).

I have also set HPSIM to alert me on any event. I have ran the test e-mail and it works fine.

E-mail alerts are working. The issue is its not receiving the trap to then send on the alert? Can anyone help with what settings i need to check?

OK,

If you are using WBEM providers then traps are not relevant. Basically, if you run the wbem test event and it appears in the event log but not the CMS event list for that server then your CMS has not created a WMI subscription for that server. To do this, select the server in the CMS and subscribe as follows. You can verify by running the 'mxwbemsub command'

I have just tried this. I get a event on the servers system log but i do not see anything under the server events on HPSIM.

Can you post the output of the 'Subscribe to WBEM events' command you just ran?

Can you see if the subscription is created at the server using the WMI tools as shown below?

I get a invalid namespace when i try to access

\\server\root\HPQ

I cant see any namespace related to HPSIM.

On the server with the HP WBEM providor installed, there must be a WMI namespace of root\cim_v2\hpq otherwsie they are not installed properly.

Can you send me the output of this command please ?

mxwbemsub -l -n servername

when run from the CMS?? Also, can you check what port the WMIMapper is running on and that both Pegasus Services are running?
