topic IP address and SIM server name change in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

I have a customer that needs to upgrade their SIM server from 5.3 to 6.3. They have asked the following question and I would like to know if this is a possilbe solution?

In order to keep the downtime to a minimum, will it be possible for us to build a new Windows 2008 server with a different name and IP address, install all the necessary applications and once completed rename the server and change the IP address to match the old server? This way, we will have the old server up while the new one is built and we will not need to make any firewall changes.

I would appreciate any thoughts.

Alice Seeley

Ok,

I can't see why not. Once you turn off the old server and change the name/ip, all you need to do is import the CMS cert to the monitored devices,
