wondering if there is a way to install the 7.00 or 7.10 IM agents in a VMware GSX guest OS. I am trying to put together a demo environment for Openview in one W2003 guest and one W2k guest and can't seem to get the agents to install. The error indicates the System management controller needs to be installed but that will not install either.

No you can not install the Insight Agents in a guest OS. The agent installation checks for the presence of the physical HW.

You cannot get the agents to install within a VM since the VM is not HP equipment. What you can do is to install the agents on the host system (assuming it is an HP system) and enable WBEM on the VM. SIM will then discover the VM as a VMware device and give basic health information.
