For time being you can edit the existing task to exclude the particular event type when received from your Linux server. Tuning the hardware status polling may affcet the status reporting of other servers too. So that is not a good option.

We have a HP-SIM7 for monitoring one of Linux Servers.I will get a mail/pager when any component in my Linux server fails.

Linux client is running the hpsim agent to talk to SIM server.

On my Linux server the harddisk failed, i started to receive multiples of emails/pagers messages.

Is there any settings on the Agent (or) SIM console to control this alert messages, say if the error is detected it should send only 2 messages.

P.S.This thread has been moved from ITRC server mgmt (Insight Manager 7) Forum to ITRC HP Systems Insight Manager Forum- HP Forums Moderator

No settings available in IM7 to limit the number of alerts to be received. HPSIM 4.2 SP2 or greater has a better event flood control mechanism.

Hi,
Thanks for your fast response,
But is there any way to avoid this condition.

Emails/SMS are flooded when i get the hardidks error.

i saw some settings on the SIM console manager ==> hardware pooling , can reduce the retries (or) timeout. will it be helpful.
