topic Turning off Application Traps in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

Is there a way to globally disable application traps?

We are rolling out OpenView agents and we do not want these traps turing our nodes red on the service map.

I can't seen to find a setting for this within "Replicate Agent Settings". Anyone know of a way to globally turn this off on a group of nodes from the SIM console?

Thanks!

If you remove the trap destination(s) from the SNMP service configuration you will no longer receive traps from the Insight agents.

This can be done via replicate agent settings.

Thanks but I don't want to disable traps completely...just for things that are not critical such as application traps.

can you be more specific? What do you mean by "application traps"?

When you go into the Control panel applet for the HP Agents there is a checkbox for "Send Application Traps".

This will send a trap whenever a client process aborts abnormally (i.e. JAVA.EXE or MMC.EXE crashes).

These events are always interpreted to be critical by OpenView. We simply don't want this as if there is a process we want to monitor we can look for it explicitly in OpenView. The problem today is that nodes turn red in the Service Map because a client application (mmc, java, explorer, etc). crashes

On all my servers running the 7.0 and 7.1 agents the setting "Enable Application Exception Trap" is off by default.

This does not seem to be configurable via "Replicate Agent Settings"
