Hi

SNMP can be installed using the following steps.

1. Goto add/remove programs.
2. Click on Add/remove windows components.
3. Select the checkbox for Management and Monitoring tools.
4. Click on details and select snmp (Simple Network Management Protocol).
5. Click next.
6. It will install snmp.
When asked for windows 2003 cd insert it and continue.
This will install snmp.

After this restart the psp installation and install insight management agent.

After this it should show the agents data in SMH homepage.

regards
Sins.

Hi All,

I have a Proliant ML310 running SBS 2003, which I hve recently taken over support for, System MAnagement hompage is installed but contains no information.. I think the server install wasn't done correctly for other issues, but I just want to get this working so I can ensure everything is running smoothly from a hardware point of view.

I have tried reinstalling System management homepage, but same problem.. are there other oarts to this that need to be installed to get usefull data into the SMH

MAny thanks

Hi,

Have you installed PSP?
For the agents information to be seen The whole PSP has to be installed first.

After this we need to configure the snmp service and restart SMH.

This should work...

Regards
Sins

Hi Sins,

thanks for that, I just went to install PSP off the smartstart CD (to ensure it had been installed), and it says that all components are installed apart from Insight Manager, which has an error on a failed dependancy which is the snmp service..

Any idea's how I install this or where I find it...

thanks
DAvid

Forgot to mention one more thing.

After installing snmp you need to configure it.

To configure snmp.

Goto services.
Select snmp and edit properties.
Click on security tab.
in comunity string add name as public with read write permission.
click apply and close.
Now restart snmp.

This should work.

Regards
Sins
