HP WMI Storage Agent question

What service does this agent/service provide?

I , like so many others, have had to stop this service in order to solve my issue of failed backups to LTO4 TBU's

I use CA Arcserve 16 and in my research, it seems that most industry leading backup programs have users that have wrestled with this for years now.

So now that i ahve the sevice stopped on my new Proliant G8, my question is...what service /support does the HP WMI Storage Agent provide? what are the consequences of having this serivce stopped /disabled?
