      <description>&lt;P&gt;Trying to discover ESX or ESX(i) host and it always times out with the message below (basically the Discovery Task sits on the "Running Virtual Machine Management (VMM) Plug-in Identification... for a long time and then times out):&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Running Virtual Machine Management (VMM) Plug-in Identification...&lt;BR /&gt;Major:&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The identification or discovery of this system has timed out, so&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; the task for this target has failed. If the managed system's CPU is&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; heavily utilized, then you may want to increase the timeout value&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; for identification for a single system. To do that, increase the&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; IdentificationTaskDefaultThreadTimeoutSec property in the&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; globalsettings.props file to 1800 (30 minutes) or more using the&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; mxglobalsettings CLI command.       <description>&lt;P&gt;We had the same problem. Discovery worked fine at first but then we started getting the error, which is strange because we don't use VMM. Here's what fixed it for us:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;In the application installation directory, in the &lt;FONT face="courier new,courier"&gt;config\partnerservicexml&lt;/FONT&gt; folder, there was a file named &lt;FONT face="courier new,courier"&gt;vmm.xml&lt;/FONT&gt;. I deleted this file and restarted the HP Systems Insight Manager service. After that, discovery tasks started functioning normally again.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
