If you are running SIM on Windows 2003 you should check for the existence of a file named c:\program or d:\program. If this file exists then the "HP Systems Insight Manager" service will not start properly.

In your Windows application event log you will see messages like

Windows application event log is filled with errors

The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( HP Systems Insight Manager ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Could not restart MxDomainManager.

The solution is to delete the 0 byte files named "program"

joel,

i cann't login to SIM unless i run sim.bat file.
browser getting error message "the page can not the displayed" logon page doesn't come to the browser. and then when i run sim.bat i can login to SIM and i can work properly. and HP system insight manager service still start position. i think it doesn't look like HP SIM service. because i tried to restart HP SIM service and nothing. after run sim.bat file my CPU is going to %100 and adding new files in the task manager.example xdomainmgr.exe, xinventory.exe, mxdtf.exe and mxagent.exe etc.
before run sim.bat file i cann't see these files in the task manager and CPU position is normal between %2 and %5.
this problem occurs per a week at least(connection losing)
thanks,
