HP SMH doesn't show Storage items

Hello,

I have installed Windows Server 2012 on two HP servers Proliant DL360 G6 and DL380 G5. All drivers, firmware and software are up to date, however I have a problem with System Management Homepage - it doesn't show Storage items (see the attachment). Do you have maybe any suggestions?

Dl360 G6 looks supported but I do not see the DL380 G5 listed. Also, are you using the SNMP or WBEM providors and which versions?

Hi,

I'm using SNMP. Interesting is that I have also third one server DL380 G5 with WS2012 and this one is working perfectly.

I compared those two with this one, and they have the same version of agents and SNMP configuration.

Yes, they are. All necessary services are running.

The working one is E200 and the rest E200 and P410i.

Do you have the SNMP Service correctly configured?

In W2k12 you cannot anymore configure it through services GUI, you have to configure it in the registry under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\snmp

You have to configure a SNMP Community with Read & Write access to the target "localhost"!

Why so? is this new in 2012? Only need read community string in all previous versions. Teh READ/WRITE is need for setting values i.e. setting disk alert thresholds or rebooting server etc. but not for monitoring persay.

OK you're right, it's not needed for monitoring.

But "localhost" has to be in the "accept Traps from..." field otherwise you wouldn't get any information

hm I've just seen two things in the screenshot :

1) the SNMP Service is probably correctly configured since you get some of the information

2) under "management processor" there is the value "none". Is it possible that you don't have configured ilo correctly for HP SIM?

I am sure that SNMP is correctly configured. As you say, I get all informations except the Storage.

About value "none" for MP, I fixed it but it doesn't change anything in my case. I manage about 20 servers with HP SIM, most of them are running under 2K3 and 2K8, last three installations are 2K12 and on two of them I have the Storage problem.

Can you try an snmpwalk aganist the system? See whats missing? Also, you have no other software using port 161 on that server?

OK, I found a solution. It is necessary to install additional driver:

HP ProLiant Smart Array SAS/SATA Controller Driver for Windows Server 2012

Hmm, and this wasn't installed with the PSP like the other machine that was working?
