We are running W2K SP4 with SQL 2000sp3 and after installing HP SIM we are unable to create custom tasks or queries(Lists). We are recieving runtime errors(object not found etc). Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks

I have the same issue. HP SIM v4.2 but now I can't create lists or create/edit Event Handling tasks. If you debug it appears to be a Java Class issue, although I don't think I've changed my Java Settings. Have now tried Java JRE 1.4.2 and the new Java JRE v5. Still the same problem. This is very annooying as I need to setup SMSing to mobile phones ASAP, but I can't add a new Event Handler. Havn't noticed any other symptoms yet. Although have put on a few Windows Updates, will check theseslim there. Error the same for create list or new Event Handler when you get to Systems stage. Error attached.

No change, even when all Regional settings set to US.

Although by backing out the last few Windows Updates, the symptoms of the problem changed. I then just got "Error on Page" in the browser and not the RunTime error. But I backed out another couple of Windows updates and now I'm back to the RunTime error. Any ideas ? If not I'll have to reinstall the whole console.

I have HPSIM 4.1 on W2K sp4 with a SQl2000 sp3 database. I haven't encountered any of these problems. Initial problems with the Java web agent, deinstalled Java and allow hpsim to install it's own version, there is also a patch for IE else it will hang.

The account you used to install HPSIM & SQL are they the same, mine was a the same domain account. If its differnt you may have to give the HPSIM account permission on the SQL database that HPSIM has created.

Same account for HPSIM and SQL. Function was working previously just fine, as I already have one Automatic Event Handler configured and working. Think I'll try rebuilding my console and disable Windows updates from our internal SUS server. Has anyone else who has SU configured and thus actually gets Windows Updates regularly encountered this problem ? Will post results of console rebuild.

Do you think it was the fact that it was Win2003 or the fact that you rebuilt it ? Also I wonder if HPSIM v4.2 SP1 will come out soon ?

I'm having the same problem on a Win 2003 Server, Java 1.4.2, HPSIM 4.2. I've unistalled Java and allow SIM to reinstall still the same issue. I too, hae also install all the Windows updates. I have also rebuilt the box twice on 2003 and twice on 2000 with same exact results.

Has anyone logged a problem with HP on it yet ? Any idea which Windows Update it was that broke it ? It seems to be an update from the last 1-2 months. Go into the windows directory, find the patch dir eg. $NtUninstallKB839645$ and use SPUNINST to remove that Windows Update. If we can narrow down the particular Update we may be able to fix. I'm going to keep removing updates from most recent backwards until it works.
