Hello

I'm new to HP Systems Insight Manager as was looking for some advise on initial configuration and how it all works. I've e read through a lot of the HP documentation and it's not so clear.

I have installed HP SIM on a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 server using SQL Express. I have configured some of the basic options and run a discovery, not all of the servers I want to manage show up. Do I need to installs some kind of agents on these servers so they show up after a discovery scan?

Also do I need to install HP CMS software in conjunction with HP SIM to allow all features to work and get the best out of the product?

Thanks

Calum

Hello Calum,

Yes you need agents on your operating systems, these can be downloaded from the hp website. The agents are available for windows, esx and many linux platforms. When these agents are installed you need to set credentials for discovery in SIM like signin, snmp and wbem.

Ilos and enclosures don't need credentials. If you need more help let me know how far you got it working then we'll start from there.

Kind regards,

Andrew
