HPSIM 7.4 install fails on 2012 R2 Standard

Just built a new 2012 R2 standard server and started the install of HPSIM 7.4. The SQL install got an install error. When I go to the SQL Server installation center, and run the SQL configuration checker, the rule checker fails on Edition WOW64 Platform. Looking at the details - The setup program can only be run on 32-bit systems.

According to the supported OS listed in the link below 2012 R2 standard is supported.

What am I missing?

I've already ran the installer on a Windows 2012 R2 and it ran fine did you run the installer with the option run as administrator?

I did find a link for the sql installer problem

Yes I ran as administrator. The link is for 2008 SQL, not 2012. Do I need to have 2008 SQL installed prior to installing SQL 2012?

Where does the install fail? Did you also try to run the sql setup as a standalone and see if you got the same error?

I did run the SQL install and it did install, however when I run the HPSIM setup it cant connect to the DB. I am ununstalling SQL now and will retry the HPSIM setup.

Any other advice?

Andrew,

The HPSIM install is working now. When I uninstalled SQL I removed everything EXCEPT SQL Server 2008 support files and the VSS writer for SQL server 2012. Not sure if that helped or not.

I will post back if the install ends successfully.

I got HPSIM installed but now when I go to get the registration key it fails.

First I installed, but for 2nd time setup says "Unsupported OS".

Why I don't know.

Also SIM 7.4 did not show Enclosure picture view

What should I do?

About page in HP SIM shows incorrect operating system version as “Windows Server 2012”.
This is an issue with the JRE currently integrated with HP SIM, where Java is unable to get the
correct Windows 2012 operating system name.
