When trying to update VCRM 7.5.1, I am getting the following errors:

Error: unable to connect.
Unknown error: 12057
Invalid HTTP status 403 trying to read file remote file C:\Windows\TEMP\wh8F95.tmp.
Error downloading remote file http://kmcs-sec-dwnld-pro.glb.itcs.hp.com/kmcs-web/swd/public/download/ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL62160/sy-149941-1/VCRM_VERIFICATION.txt to local file C:\Windows\TEMP\wh8F95.tmp

This occurs whether direct across the internet, or via Proxy.

From the look of the file saved in the TEMP folder, only 500 bytes of VCRM_VERIFICATION.txt are being served then the file truncates.

I have tried restarting VCRM and used multiple internet links and from different physical locations in the UK. All result in the same.

Did you also try to download a SPP, unpack it and put it in a nee folder under the VCRM directory? You can download by hand and SER what happens. Also check for a virusscanner or simply diskspace. Or clear the VCRM folder and try again.

Thanks for your reply, but not really relevant to the problem.

Manually placing a SPP file or it's contents into the VCRM repository folder is not going to fix a download issue.

However, I can confirm that some updates I manually placed in the folder are being added to the VCRM software list.

Virus Scanner has been turned off to rule that out. Disk space is not an issue - I did state that I tried this from multiple locations (i.e. different servers physically located in different locations).

Again, clearing the VCRM repository folder is not relevant to the problem.

Both the server and VCRM have been restarted with the same issue.

Error 403 is forbidden, could there be something wrong with you support account for downloading SPPS ? I don't use the autodownload so am not sure if you need a support account. Or in an other link i read that someone had a firewall issue with port 21.

Yes, you would have thought it was something like that.

VCRM uses a "Entitlement Token" to validate. You generate a token from a link it provides and paste it in.

The other requirement is that you need a supported device linked to your HP Passport profile - I have a few supported devices so this should be ok.

Thinking it might be the token expiring or something, I generated a new one. Using the new code makes no difference.

After a lot of attempts, I have managed to get one site to start downloading updates, but I can't change the frequency of the downloads due to this error. Every time you try to "Finish" on the Automatic Update Settings page, you get this error.

Very puzzling.

I am in the process of logging a case with HPE, but going by the responses I am getting, I think I have a more realistic chance of winning the lottery!

Well, the server that started the download did manage some files, but burped at a lot of others. The log doesn't look very good.

Looks like HP may have released a fix over the weekend. Unfortunately, their Support Alert email link results in a 404 error (I see a trend here!)

Here's the link to 7.5.3.0:

http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_2820811e0de649969b1fd8d45b

However, installing the update doesn't look promising as it results in the original error in the title of this thread :(

I'm guessing the HP/HPE split is still bringing out some web hosting issues.
