Cannot Recieve events from linux server through snmp trap

Hello Forum ,

Trying to solve this problem for couple of days now ,

I cannot get traps from the linux servers I'm monitoring ,

Each of them configured to send traps to the hpsim server,

All ports are open in both servers , Agents are installed, snmp trap is set

What am I probably missing ?

Please help ! I'm afraid to be losing hope

HEllo again,

So is there a firewall between your server and the SIM server? Did you configure the ip adress of your SIM server or did you use the name and if so can this name be resolved? What is the generation of the server that you want to monitor ?

Hello :)

So there is no firewall between them ,

The servers I'm trying to monitor are between G6 to 9, while most of them are G7

in all of them I configured snmp trap with the IP address ,

maybe I'll use some program like wireshark to check if I'm getting traps from those servers to the hpsim server.

does your snmpd.conf look like ? If you logon to a HP SMH you can send a test trap to see if communication is working,

Go to Settings > SNMP & Agent Settings, If you look at the Trap screen could you post a screenshot of this screen. You can also push the Send Test Trap button.

you have saved me lot of time with your tip to send a snmp trap using SMH, so thanks a lot for that ,

Ok so i used the trap and I followed the network live capture , and i didn't get anything from the source managed server.

So i will put here the configuration , maybe the mistake is not adding community string to the trap ?

I thought it should work withoug the community string ,

So I'm pretty sure that the problem is the configuration of the trap setting on the linux server,

Is there some documentery how to configure traps on linux servers ?

I have tried to use the sim tools , like repair and install agents, but they won't work - guess the hpsim is not update for this version of linux server.

I've got the following rule for traps:

trapsink 192.168.1.10 public

Do you have SNMP for a protocol and do you have SNMP info for that server?

I have SNMP protocol , and i do receive info for that server in SNMP

Try to put public behind your trapsync after the name of your SIM server. That is the DNS name for your SIM server right?

I've check my config and pasted it below and this works for me. I changed my specific info to a general 192.168.1.10 for my SIM server:
