Create a script to examine the file and determine if there is anything new, then use the mxnode command to add it to HP SIM.

SIM Gurus,

Heres the situation. We maintain a database (text file) of all the servers that we provision. When a new server is provisioned, the admin adds the servername (hostname and or IP) to the text file.

I would like to schedule some kind of a job in SIM or thru CLI, that read the text file daily and automatically adds and identifies any new systems that have been added to the text file.

Is this doable? Has anyone attepted it and if so, any pointer to any method would be appreciated.

For sure under "options" \ "Discovery" \ "Automatic Discovery". Then at the bottom of the page you can enter a file which defines the subnet you wish to be scanned or hostnames as you mentioned.
