Hi

May be a silly question, but i cannot seem to find a way to send degraded item alerts(i.e drive failure when spare kicks in) from insight.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, i've set this up, but unable to find an option that will report degraded items. I've even set up a task that sends everything to me no matter what, however today i realised a HDD had failed in a server 2 days ago, but was marked as degraded (raid 5 setup)

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Hi Richard,

You are confusing two different things - events (Minor, Major, Critical), and server status (Normal, Degraded, Failed).

In SIM, navigate to Options -> Events -> Status Change Events Settings. "Enable creation of system status change events" should be checked. This will create, for instance, a major *event* when the *system status* changes to degraded.

Now create an event handler to generate an alert for major events, and you should be all set.

Good luck,
- Steve
