I've noticed several of our clients have Java problems as well, resulting from the mix of the several different Java drivers required for SIM (i.e. one for SIM, another for System Homepage depending on whether they're updated or old versions, a third for ILO, or RILOE, RILOE2, etc etc)

One simple thing to test is to go into control panel, select the Java config applet, then check the Advanced tab, if it reads "Use default Java plugin" then try changing this to "JRE 1.4.2_01 in "
This will force you to use the newer driver, whereas the "default driver" may not be the newest driver but actually may be any of the older versions.

Don't forget to "apply" and make sure IE is closed/restarted after applying.

Can't say this solved all our connect/login problems but several of them did get solved by this little thing :)

I can't seem to get into my SIM application. I get as far as 'checking for Java runtime environmet'. On the status bar I'm getting; applet.baseapplet.testapplet started. I just ran the install for Java 1.4.2 and still nothing. Suggestions?

This is a known problem caused by the installation of the Microsoft security patch for MS04-025. The fix can be downloaded from

http://www.hp.com/go/hpsim

I'm having a similar problem, when I try to open the SIM Console I'm getting the following error:

"An error conecting to the HP Systems Insight Manager Server:
java.lang.OutOfMemory Error:
unableto create new native thread"

Is this related to the same issue?

Thanks
Ramiro
