Hi there,

I've a HP SIM 4.01 running on a SLES8 Linux Box
and as I have some HP-UX servers with MC/ServiceGuard, I'd like to use the SG Manager with HP SIM.

I've installed sgmanager-A.04 (rpm -ihv failed, because if some dependencies, but --nodeps --force solved that), but now the click on Tools->Integrated Consoles->HP SG Manager with one of my servers just gives me a 500 error complaining SGMgr is not installed (see below).

has someone an idea on that?

deinstallation/reinstall of SG-Mgr was no success so far, neither was /etc/init.d/hpsim restart.
mxtool -l shows SG Manager installed.

Thanks for any advice,
Gunnar

HTTP Status 500 -

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

type Exception report

message

description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

exception

org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Can't find resource for bundle java.util.PropertyResourceBundle, key SGMgr.NotInstalledText
at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServletWrapper.service(JspServletWrapper.java:248)

[more ats deleted]

root cause

java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find resource for bundle java.util.PropertyResourceBundle, key SGMgr.NotInstalledText
at java.util.ResourceBundle.getObject

[more ats deleted]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache Tomcat/4.1.29

I updated SG-Manager to 4.02 and the problem disappeared, so this seems to be a workaround.

Been searching for something similar and this is as close a match as I can find.

I go HPSIM 4.2 installed on HPUX 11.11.
I have the ServiceGuard Manager 4.2 installed on the same server as well. The mxtool says the plugin is installed - did this via the swinstall procedure.

When I try to start sgmgr via the HPSIM interface it just sits there - does nothing.

I do have java jre1.5.0-01, says it want 1.4 or greater so that is OK.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Hi Rick,

> When I try to start sgmgr via the HPSIM interface it just sits there - does nothing.

hm, you noticed, that the first page you get in the HP-SIM GUI (in your browser) is a page stating that SG Manager will be started - and you have to click on the link at the bottom of that page to actually start the sgmgr.
You'll download a java/jini/whatever applet, have to confirm some certificate popups and the n a java sgmgr version starts on your client pc/workstation/whatever (this one also has to have a java JRE installed).

This is the way it works with a HP SIM on a linux server, my client is a w2k box with firefox as browser.

If it's not like this with your setup, let me know.

Gunnar

Same thing. Linux as desktop, using mozilla 1.7.3 (HP says at least 1.6) says it is starting but hangs. You described the details exactly.

I have a call to HP and the issue is being escalated. I will let you know the outcome via this post.

Thanks!
